New Year, New Community Changes!

GreenGoals18
Happy 2018, Alliance Champions! It's a new year and we've made some cool additions to the community: a new discussion forum, a new challenge badge, a new community coordinator and some new features to help us connect, inspire and support you.

Over the last month, we have made some changes to the site including some new home page visuals and a new history page. Here are a few more things we've worked on to enhance the community!

We’ve created a new discussion forum where everyone can talk about resources, events, news and ideas to make your school healthier and more sustainable. For many who might be new to discussion forums, the Meet New Members and new General Discussion forums are the perfect places to start interacting with other members! (Remember you can change your subscriptions and email notification settings at any time by going to your account settings.)

To kick off this new forum, we’ve created the topic – What are your Green Goals for 2018?  We’d love to hear all about the green goals you hope to accomplish this coming year in your class, school, green club, workplace or in your home.

You will also receive the #GreenGoals2018 Challenge Badge by simply contributing your ideas/goals to the topic! Remember that challenge badges are exclusive and are ONLY available during specific challenges. They are awarded on a weekly basis and will indicate to the community that you are a sustainable champion with Green Goals in mind!

Points are always given for contributing to a topic. However, for the duration of THIS challenge, contribution points will be DOUBLED, getting you even closer to your next ACHIEVEMENT BADGE. For a breakdown of all our badges, go here.

Please join us by sharing the GreenGoals you hope to achieve this year. You might find others with the same goals, discover ideas you hadn’t thought of yet, or inspire others to create GreenGoals of their own!

Lastly, you'll notice a few new profile questions designed to better understand your interests, specialties, and how we can best support your sustainability journey. In the past year, we have added nearly 1,000 environmental champions to our community, so this info will also help us to develop a mentor/mentee matching program in the future.

As always, if you have any questions about the community, please just shoot me a message or post to our Community How-to Forum! Our new Community Coordinator, Natalia Chung, can also help you get acquainted and connect you to other environmental champions. Just let us know how we can help.

Here’s to another amazing year full of champion connections and successful green routines!
